Law student sues church over baptisms

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Daniel Dastrup, a law student, is suing the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for damages he claims he suffered as a direct result of performing full immersion baptisms for the dead.

This is not as creepy as it sounds. The deceased are not themselves baptized; rather, a living person stands in for the deceased.  Some of the stand-ins however, according to Dastrup, weighed in excess of 250 pounds.

Dastrup claims that the Church had a duty to warn him that repetitive baptisms could cause injury.  He also claims that he was not permitted to have any breaks when he requested them.
