Strangely, Solicitors are not allowed to say that they are better than another solicitor in any area.  This is not the case in the United States for example.  Regulations say that no solicitor is allowed to say that he or she has a specialist knowledge that is superior to other solicitors.

An example:  There are many Solicitors around the country whose business is buying and selling property on behalf of people and businesses. This type of law is known as Conveyancing. The turn-around time for such work is relatively quick and the work relatively easy.  As a result, quite a few Solicitors ignored other types of work, like court cases because with these it meant building a relationship with a client and putting in a lot of work.

Conveyancing lawyers had all their eggs in one basket – closely tied to the property bubble, and now, with the demise of the property market the basket is empty.  As a result, many who previously worked in conveyancing are now looking to get work in other areas or law despite the fact that they are rusty or have little or no experience in other areas of law.  Would you like to have a bone surgeon operating on your heart?
